Lymphoma.....is there a cure or no?

my aunte has lymphoma,im not sure which one she has but the doctor says its active, and there is no cure for it,shes having radioactive now and the doctor says its a way to make her life go a lil bit longer?is there any way that u can cure this?

Lymphoma.....is there a cure or no?
Well, nothing can be labeled as a cure because we cant detect the single cancer cell.

HOWEVER, depending on type, a stem cell transplant (bone marrow transplant) is a possible cure.

I went through one for leukemia this past summer. They are all done one of a couple ways no matter what disease they are using it for. If this is a possibility, you or her are free to email me to talk about the transplant. There is a link on my profile
Reply:It really depends on the type. My grandfather has lymphoma and brain cancer like all over his body, but remarkably, the doctors think they can treat/cure it. I am very sorry about your aunt. If the doctor says there is no cure, you can just think hopeful. I hope she has a great life... :)
Reply:I am very sorry to here this news. I have been going through this as well. There is no cure for cancer. Perhaps one day there will be. It can be treated and brought under control. This is good news. As far as life and how long we will live. Who knows this is why we live for today and do all we can to make the best of every second of our lives. Serving others brings the greatest joy known to man. Take care of your aunt let her know she is loved today all day every second of the day. Have faith and all will end well. She will one day pass from this life. So will you and I. On our tombstone, there is a dash between our date of birth and date of death. what all did we do between?

Stay strong
Reply:Have to disagree with "no cure" bit. Many cancers can be cured in some situations; in fact testicular cancer is cured in most all situations; childhood ALL is another major success story. Earlier diagnosis is making a difference in breast and colon cancer, so there is real optimism. However, still much suffering and sorrow out there...

Hodgkin's lymphoma is another major success of chemoradiotherapy. Cure rates extremely high in early stage disease; more advanced disease still possible even without high-dose chemotherapy and stem cell rescue.

Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is a large collection of diseases with varying cure rates and responses to therapy. Paradoxically the more aggressive variants frequently have higher cure rates (but also lower survival rates), while the more indolent ones tend to be incurable but at least associated with longer survival. Treatment can range from observation (I have patients I have followed for 5 or more years without ever treating) to oral therapy, radiation, aggressive IV therapy, and even stem cell transplant procedure.

Whether she is curable I can't say without more info, but good luck and God bless.
