What is largecell follicular lymphoma?
Large cell follicular lymphoma is an intermediate grade lymphoma. Without more information I can't give you real prognosis statistics but stage 1 is highly treatable and long remissions are the norm. I think this is the type lymphoma that presidential candidate Fred Thompson had but I am not positive on this. He had radiation to the enlarged lymph node and has been in remission for 4+ years. Here is a good web page on the various follicular lymphomas. Scroll down to read about large cell variety.

Reply:Follicular lymphomas in general are indolent lymphomas, meaning, they are slowly progressive and tend to not cause problems for years. Because of this, by the time they are diagnosed, they tend to be in advanced stages (III or IV). The fact that you have an early stage means that you should do well. Even though caught early and treatment may or may not be necessary at this time, regardless of therapy, it is not thought of as a curable disease. Rather, follicular lymphoma is regarded more as a chronic illness. Prognosis is good, nevertheless.
Reply:there are two very good organizations for info on lymphoma.. the leukemia %26amp;lymphoma society(www.lls.org) and the cutaneous lymphoma foundation (www.clfoundation.org). both of these groups have tons of info and offer phone counciling . they also have lots of info that can be mailed to you. i have found both to be very helpful and the staff is extremely courteous. i am sure they can be of some assistance. they both specialize in info on lymphoma. by the way if you were diagnosed with stage 1 your prognosis is excellent. my oncologist says i have a very good chance of dying from some other condition. i was diagnosed stage 1 indolent(slow-growing). take hope that there is new research starting everyday for lymphoma. you caught this at the earliest possible time and the earlier it is caught the better chance you will have of living a very long life.
