Contact the Leukemia/Lymphoma socitey. They will be able to give you advice.

Blessings to you for wanting to help.
Reply:Where are you and then I can better help you both?
Reply:To me with cancer that is the most frustrating thing there is all kinds of support as in mentoring and pamphlets but never financial help you have to have fundraisers etc. And if your really broke as in no money at all then you will get assistance as in welfare, how embarrassing. good luck going through the same thing myself.
Reply:here is a question where I answered this before....they have put limits on the answer size now, so probably couldn't get this much in again...

Reply:call /the /local cancer society /in /your area /they/ will/ direct you/ in/ the/ right direction
Reply:I second the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Also check the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).

Talk to the hosp the patient is being treated at. They should have social workers and financial advisors that will know of local resources. (these people should be on his team of docs, but if not the hosp will have these people that he can talk with upon request)

The patient should also be filing for disability through SS and for medicaid and/or medicare. They may or may not qualify, but it is worth applying for.

And never underestimate the power of fund raising. Have things like bake sales or car washes and the like. If you know a group of kids have them go around the neighborhoods selling candy (everyone buys candy from kids), see if there are any local businesses or organizations that would be willing to collect donation (like the change jars in gas stations and such).
