Generally speaking is lymphoma considered one of the more deadly cancers or less deadly cancers?

I know that lung cancer is the worst one, where does lymphoma rank among the cancers?

Generally speaking is lymphoma considered one of the more deadly cancers or less deadly cancers?
All cancer is life threatening, but in general . . it will depend on the stage of the disease, grade of the tumor, and location.

Lymphoma is considered treatable. I know that when my son was first diagnosed with sarcoma his oncologist was hoping that it was a lymphoma as she felt they were 'easier' to treat. Didn't turn out that way . . turns out he had a rare abdominal sarcoma type. One thing that we have learned about dealing with cancer for the past few years is that . . someone is always worse off than you . . and someone is always better off than you. So . . you just learn to deal with whatever the news turns out to be.

Best to you.
Reply:While both are fatal, lymphoma is the more dreaded cancer, it is insidious and begins quietly as lymphocytes undergo a radical change and the multiplication of lymphocytes becomes enormous. As with other blood cancers, it is difficult to treat because total body irradiation or chemotherapy tends to destroy the erythrocytes too. We don't understand the origins of the disease well but in Africa, it is linked to a virus. 56% of all blood cancers are lymphomas. The majority of lung cancer is preventable, but this is not so with lymphomas. Remission can occur but the long term prognosis is death. As a physician (hematologist/internist) I would class lymphomas as worse than lung cancer.
Reply:child or adult makes all the difference - in adults more deadly in children less deadly.
Reply:Lymphoma is very treatable, although any cancer can be fatal.
