What is the prognosis for someone diagnosed with lymphoma?

my dad was just diagnosed with lymphoma cancer, he is a 65 white male who is overweight, if that matters, I need answers please.

What is the prognosis for someone diagnosed with lymphoma?
More important than the type of cancer would be the stage and grade of the tumor. Early stages and low grades are 'easier' to treat than advanced stage and high grades. If the cancer has metastasized (spread to distant locations in the body) . . the disease is harder to treat, but not impossible.

It is difficult to speculate about your fathers cancer. No one can answer that question since there are so many factors to consider . . your fathers age, response to treatment, and overall health need to be considered along with the stage and grade of the tumors. The best person to ask is your fathers oncologist.

Best to you.
Reply:honestly, no one is going to be able to answer this question truthfully. the fact is, each and every case is unique, and the only thing that you could do is ask his doctor in order to get a prognosis. that's the only way to get a definitive answer.

Reply:You'll need to be more specific about the type, stage, etc. I wish you and your dad all the best.

Here's the b est info out there:

Best wishes
Reply:it's hard to tell for sure b/c different patients have different treatment for different stage of cancer.

to make you get a little idea. here's what happened to my sis who was a lymphoma patient.

1. Dr. evaluated her condition of health

2. then set up a treatment plan for her

3. she had treatment - chemo

4. Dr. had her to get scanning every now and then to see the progress of treatment.

5. after the treatment was done, she needed to check up (very often in the beginning, and if everything was ok, she didn't have to see dr. that often)

hope it helps a bit
