My father has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.I am devastated. Know of any support options for me?

I am trying to be as positive and as educated as I can regarding this cancer. My entire family and doctors, are optimistic because they caught it in its very early stages...but this is the more aggressive of the two types of lymphoma. My family live elsewhere around the world, I am alone here and although I have many friends who support me with this issue, I want to be part of a support group that deals mainly with this. I feel the more I know how to handle my emotions and self, the better I can be there for my father and the rest of my family. Please help. I live in San Francisco.

The best thing about having the aggressive form of NHL is that it usually responds well to treatment. I had diffuse large B cell NHL, and the standard protocol was CHOP-R. The treatments worked great for me.

Reply:my partner had non Hodgkin's lymphoma,, she is hear with me still five years later treatment all finished, yes it is hard to cope with especially the patient,,and one great big learning curve for families especially,, they need your strength to help them through, even if you are a long way off,,and don't get upset if you think they are getting upset with you,, they have a lot to cope with, and the treatment, will make them say and do things which could be up setting to you,, you will learn to shrug it off because it is the treatment that is causing them to act differently,,not them, I typed it into the computer and the best info I found was from Ireland,,don't forget to phone him more regularly, don't put it off ever
