I've had swollen lymph nodes in my neck now for over a month, and just in the last two weeks a few more have seemed to pop out of no-where. I have headaches nearly constantly, keep gaining weight, can't sleep well but am really tired all day, have vertigo problems a lot, have really bad short-term memory and a really hard time concentrating.
These symptoms have come on quite suddenly.
I HAVE been to the doctor and he did a blood test to see if it's my thyroid since he said it felt a little swollen, but if it's not, it could be lymphoma.
Can any of you give me any extra details on the signs, symptoms, problems, and things associated with both of these and tell me what you think I could possibly have going on with me?
Oh, I seem to have swollen lymph nodes in my pelvis too.
Thanks!
Is it my thyroid or is it lymphoma?
Lymphoma is usually associated with weight LOSS, so it may be your thyroid. It is difficult to tell the difference, even for doctors. A surgeon was all set to remove my thyroid when he did a routine pre-surg biopsy of the lymph node and the base of my neck. Oh by the way, it was Lymphoma. Having said that, Lymphoma is very treatable. Please try not to stress yourself out and stay in close contact with your doctors.

Reply:ask your doctor do you think doctors are on yahoo answers just to answer medical questions for free
Reply:where your lymph nodes are swelling all over the place you need to go back to your doctor sooner rather than later. it might not be cancer but a systemic infection but there is a blood test that can point to the likelyhood of cancer. don't freak out yet though because it might not be the big C. in the mean time if you can afford about $25 go to your natural food store and buy Essiac Tea it has ingredients that are strong blood purifiers and many people who look to complimentary treatments of cancer will use Essiac to boost their body. But get back to the doctor and if he doesn't tell you what it is, ask him to refer you to a specialist.
Reply:Get a new Doctor. You need a comlete medical screening including a cat scan as fast as possible. If it is either of theese thing you mention you need immediate care not in 2 weeks. SEEK HELP NOW!
Reply:Be careful. There are so many symptoms on malignant diseases that could mach a flue or other "normal" diseases.
If you start "searching" for symptoms you will most certainly scare yourself, And you will not do that if there is nothing to worry about.
This is what you do: Be careful to write down every abnormality in your physical condition. Bring this information to a physician you trust, and don't give up until he gives you an answer that eases your mind.
Reply:It is really impossible to say what it is.
I has a swollen lymph node in my neck, and was feeling fatigued. The doctor did 2 fine needle biopsies on my lymph node, and both came back inconclusive. They ran thyroid tests, sonograms, MRI's, radio-active iodine, it didn't help the doctors. My thyroid seemed normal. One doctor thought it was cancer on a hunch, the other who was the expert said he doubted it. They recommended removal of the lymph node to be biopsied, and I signed consent for removal of my thyroid if they found anything. Ended up being thyroid cancer with 2 small cancerous nodules in my thyroid and it spread to one lymph node.
No one online is going to be able to diagnose you. You will need to have tests run on you, and it may take a while. It could probably be many things.
Reply:I had similar symptoms, headaches (feels like migraine), weight gain, swollen limbs, insomnia, fatigue, and have trouble concentrating. I had biopsies done and turned out I have thyroid cancer. If you have been to the doctor and had blood test done, see what kind of test were actually done, I usually have to have my T3, T4, TSH, checked and sometime a CBC is done. The first three test reveal your thyroid hormone levels. I was diagnosed Jan 2005 and to this day I am still going through many tests (CT scans, MRIs, thyrogen injections, PET scans, and radioactive iodine). My suggestion to you is make an appointment with an endocrinologist and have your thyroid be rechecked and rechecked your blood test. With your symptoms it sounds like you may have hypothyroidism.
Reply:iT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR DOCTOR NEEDS TO DO SOME MORE INTENSIVE TESTING ON YOU AND YOU NEED TO EXPLAIN TO HIM EVERYTHING THAT YOU HAVE WRITTEN ABOVE. NO ONE HERE AT YAHOO ANSWERS CAN GIVE YOU A DEFINITE ANSWER AS TO WHETHER YOU HAVE CANCER OR NOT.
YOU TO SCHEDULE YOURSELF ANOTHER APPOINTMENT AND ASK YOUR DOCTOR TO DO SOME MORE TESTING ON YOU TO FIND OUT WHAT IS CAUSING YOUR TROUBLES. YOU CAN GO TO THE WEBSITE WWW.WEBMD.COM AND TYPE IN THE TERMS LISTED ABOUVE AND READ ABOUT THEM AND COMPARE THEM TO WHAT CONDITIONS AND SYMPTOMS THAT YOU ARE HAVING AND IF IT MATCHES UP TO CANCER OR IN ANYWAY RELATED TO ANY THING LINKING TO CANCER, THEN I WOULD MOST DEFINITELY GO TO THE DOCOTR. GO TO YOUR DOCTOR, IS VERY VERY IMPORTANT. CANCER IS NOT ANY THING TO PLAY AROUND WITH OR LAUGH OFF.
Reply:Another lymphoma survivor here, your symptoms reminded me of mine. The pelvis area finally got me to the doctor. Go see an oncologist and have him/her test you. General practice doctors will look at the simplest reason for the problem given your age and sex, that is why mine was missed for six months before I was finally diagnosed, since I was not the classic age or sex of Hodgkins patients. Find the youngest doctor you can, they are better educated now than ever before.
